Vision systems require careful planning inside the technology and outside in the world of customer expectations and capabilities. 

If a system is not properly justified with a strong ROI, supported by quality, production and executive management, staffed by experts who support the mechanical and controls requirements and maintained by competent trained personnel with appropriate system access -- then the system is up for grabs. 

Not much of a salesman, am I...    :-)

The positive side of this post is that if this methodology is pursued, then the right projects will get done right.  The wrong projects shake themselves out before they become train-wrecks and everyone gets the most value for their time and money.  I will continue to discuss issues like these in various issues over the coming weeks.
